
Founded in 1956, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) is one of the A-class universities in the national construction of "World Class University" and one of the key universities in the national "985 Project" and "211 Project". It is located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, which is known as the "Land of Abundance". The School of Management and Economics (SME) is the sole department at UESTC for business education. The School is committed to knowledge creation, talent cultivation, and social services through integration of technological innovation and management transformation. The School adheres to the principle of taking discipline construction as its leading force and has established an interdisciplinary system within the two major discipline categories of management and economics that supports and integrates with each other. The School has 3 departments of Business Administration, Management Science and E-commerce, Economics and Finance, 2 doctoral programmes and postdoctoral stations in Management Science and Engineering and Business Administration, and 3 master’s programmes in Management Science and Engineering, Business Administration and Applied Economics. The School offers 3 professional master’s programmes including MBA, EMBA and Finance programmes. SME collaborates with foreign universities offering two international joint programmes: iMBA (UESTC-Webster University Joint International MBA) and DoM (UESTC-ISCTE Joint Programme of Doctor of Management).
In 2008, leveraging the University’s A+ discipline in Electronic Information Engineering, the School pioneered China's first undergraduate program that integrates economics and management with engineering, offering a dual degree in Management and Electronic Engineering. In the 2023 ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, the discipline of Management is ranked 101-150. In the 2024 ShanghaiRanking’s Best Chinese Subjects Ranking, Management Science and Engineering is ranked 22nd, and Business Administration is ranked 62nd.
