School of Management Beijing Institute of Technology

SoM is run by its executive and management team, which consists of the dean and vice deans. Together they make up SoM’s Executive Committee, which is responsible for major decisions on strategic development, faculty and staff recruitment, management appointments and other related matters. The dean is responsible for the overall performance of SOM. The vice deans are responsible for international cooperation and accreditation, the undergraduate and postgraduate programs, students’ affairs, human resources and faculty development, research, administration and finance, professional and executive education.

The school is organized into eight specialized departments, covering a wide range of management-related disciplines. These departments include Management Science and Logistics, Management Engineering, Accounting, Organization and Human Resource Management, Technology Economics and Strategic Management, Marketing, Energy Technology and Industrial Management, and Public Management. Alongside these departments, the school also houses a Professional Degree Education Center, which is dedicated to offering specialized professional degree programs.

In 2024, Management Science and Engineering was rated “A” in the fifth round of the national discipline assessment organized by the Development Center for Degree and Graduate Education of the Ministry of Education. In the same year, it was ranked fifth overall (top 3%) in the “Best Disciplines in China” ranking by Soft Science. In 2024, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program was rated “A-” in the fifth round of the national discipline assessment organized by the Development Center for Degree and Graduate Education of the Ministry of Education.

In terms of publications, over the past five years, the average annual number of publications in SCI/SSCI has exceeded 150. More than 40 articles have been selected as ESI highly cited papers. Research findings have been published in Nature sub-journals such as Nature Sustainability, Nature Energy, Nature Communications, and Nature Climate Change, as well as in UTD24 journals and FT50 journals like the Journal of Finance and Management Science. In 2024, six faculty members were included in the Elsevier “Lifetime Scientific Impact Rankings,” and 17 individuals were selected for the “2024 Annual Scientific Impact Rankings.”

SoM also provides three first-level master's programs in Management Science and Engineering, Business Administration, and Public Management, and two second-level master's programs in Energy and Climate Economics and National Economic Mobilization. Professional master's programs include MBA, EMBA, MEM, and MPAcc.

The school currently has over 180 faculty and staff members, including one member of the German National Academy of Engineering, eight national high-level leading talents, fifteen national high-level young talents, one national excellent teaching faculty, and three Beijing excellent teaching faculties. Among the full-time faculty, there are 44 professors and researchers, and 77 doctoral supervisors (including part-time). The school has also appointed several academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, renowned experts in management economics, and entrepreneurs as advisory professors and part-time professors. The school has formed a leading talent team represented by national high-level talents and national excellent teaching faculties.
