The School of Business, Jiangnan University was first founded in 1985 as the the Department of Economics, Trade and Management of Wuxi Institute of Light Industry, and was renamed in 2001 as the School of Business with the merger of Jiangnan university and two other colleges. In 2003, relevant departments of Donghua University Wuxi campus were also merged into the School of Business.
The School of Business if one of the 22 schools of Jiangnan University. The School's Mission is "Inherit Jiangnan Business Culture, take root in Chinese management practice, contribute new business knowledge, and cultivate future business leaders with global mindset", and the Vision is "To become a leading Chinese business school that aims to create social values". Currently, We have 119 full-time faculty, including 27 professors and 59 associate professors. Among the faculty, 80% have obtained a doctoral degree, and more than 80% have overseas academic qualifications or have had overseas research experience for more than six months.
The School have in total 6 undergraduate programs, 3 Academic Master’s programs, 5 professional master’s program, and one doctoral program, with in total 3,508 students enrolled, including 2428 undergraduates, 386 full-time master's students, 641 part-time master’s students and in total 53 international students in all programs. Until now, the School has a network of more than 20,000 alumni both domestically and internationally. In the 2023 Shanghai Ranking’s Best Chinese Subjects Ranking, our Applied Economics discipline ranked Top 30%, and Business Administration discipline ranked Top 50%. Our MBA program won the "Top 100 Chinese Business School MBA Programs in 2023 (Ranked 50th)", "2023 Silk Road Global Business School Most Brand Value MBA Program", Tencent Business School "Outstanding Characteristic MBA Program of 2023", etc.
The School has established 5 provincial-level research bases, and 6 municipal and university-level research bases. In the past 3 years from 2021 to 2023, there are in total 449 high-level papers have been published, including 323 SSCI & SCI papers, 93 CSSCI core/CSCD core/EI papers, including 2 papers in FT50, and 29 monographs and textbooks have been published. From 2021 to 2023, the School received more than 62.4 million RMB research funds. 195 projects of various levels were approved, including 27 national level projects (2 major projects) and 38 provincial and ministerial level projects. And the School has won 6 provincial and ministerial research awards and 48 municipal level awards. 90 decision-making consultation reports were adopted and applied by relevant departments.
