Insper - Instituto de Ensino e Pesquisa

Insper is a private, non-profit and free-standing institution that operates from a single campus in São Paulo. Its name derives from the words ‘to inspire’ and ‘to belong’ (pertencer in Portuguese). Together with ‘to transform’, they represent the three foundational pillars of Insper.

The school’s history dates back to 1970, when it was established as Instituto Brasileiro de Mercado de Capitais (the Brazilian Institute of Capital Markets) in Rio de Janeiro. It began as a research institution, dedicated to studying the operations of financial and capital markets. Its first business education programme commenced in Rio de Janeiro in 1985.

Today, Insper’s mission is “to promote the transformation of Brazil through educating innovative leaders and applied research – acting with academic excellence and an integrated vision of knowledge that transcends traditional academic disciplines”. The school’s programme portfolio reflects this mission and includes degree programmes for pre-professional and professional stages, as well as for academic development.

Insper’s current portfolio includes bachelor’s programmes in business administration and economics, three executive MBAs, one MBM, one PhD programme in business economics, one DBA and three MSc degrees. The portfolio is completed by non-degree programmes in the form of graduate certificates and executive education, both open enrolment and customised.
