The School is originated from the Management Engineering Department of the Central South College of Mining and Metallurgy established in 1982. After several rounds of colleges and departments merging, it was renamed as Business School of Central South University in 2002. Throughout its four decades of history, the School has made significant development in terms of disciplinary construction, scientific research, talent cultivation and social service by adhering to the value of “Knowledge Serves the Society, Fortune Favors the Diligent”. Its discipline of Management Science and Engineering was selected as first-level national key discipline and disciplines of Economics & Business was ranked top 1% on 2022 ESI ranking list. In 2020, led by Academician Xiaohong CHEN, Honorary Dean of the School, the Basic Science Center Project “Theory and Application of Resource and Environment Management in the Digital Economy Era” funded by Natural Science Foundation of China was launched at the University, becoming the first national basic science center project in central China.
With three first-level disciplines of “Management Science and Engineering”, “Business Administration” and “Applied Economics”, the School possesses post-doctoral research stations in “Management Science and Engineering” and “Business Administration”, and doctoral programs in each of the three disciplines and professional master’s programs of EMBA, MBA, MPAcc and MF. The School was also selected as national first-class major construction site for five undergraduate majors: “Information Management and Information System”, “Business Administration”, “Accounting”, “Finance” and “Economics and Trade”.
