Business School, Soochow University

The Business School of Soochow University traces its origin to the Department of Finance and Economics founded in 1982. Approved by Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, it became Soochow University’s earliest second‑level school — the School of Finance and Economics — in June 1985 and was renamed the Business School in 2002. In February 2022, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Finance, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and Soochow University signed a tripartite agreement to jointly build a high‑level distinctive business school.
The Business School consists of five departments and several provincial‑level research institutes. It runs two post‑doctoral mobile stations, two first‑level discipline doctoral programmes and five professional master’s programmes, with five undergraduate majors available. Business Administration is a national first‑class undergraduate major; Finance is a Jiangsu brand major, and Accounting a Jiangsu characteristic major.
It has 169 staff members, including 120 full‑time teachers (27 professors and 52 associate professors), with a cohort of national and provincial high‑end talents. The school enrolls over 1,400 full‑time undergraduates and more than 1,000 doctoral and master’s students.
Honoured as “Civilized Unit of Jiangsu Province” and “Civilized Unit of Suzhou City”, the Business School features the well‑equipped Finance and Economics Science Hall, complete with various simulation laboratories and modern multimedia teaching facilities.
Attaching importance to academic research and international cooperation, it carries out joint talent‑training programmes with multiple overseas universities and hosts numerous academic conferences. It has undertaken over 690 research projects, published more than 250 monographs and 1,300 academic papers, and won over 180 research achievement awards.
Drawing on its disciplinary and talent strengths, the Business School serves local governments and enterprises by providing management training and building multiple training and research bases. Dedicated to cultivating economic‑management talents for regional development, it has delivered a large number of professionals for China, particularly Jiangsu. Going forward, it will leverage Suzhou’s cultural‑geographic edges and its own educational strengths to foster more high‑quality economic‑management and research‑oriented talents.
