The Lund University School of Economics and Management achieves AMBA re-accreditation confirming itself in the top 2% of business schools

The Lund University School of Economics and Management has officially received re-accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the world’s leading authorities in postgraduate business education, demonstrating its continuing commitment to excellence in management education.

Upon receiving AMBA accreditation, all current MBM students, and recent MBM alumni of the Lund University School of Economics and Management (LUSEM) are invited to join AMBA’s global member community of more than 60,000 students and alumni in over 150 countries on a free basis, for networking, thought leadership, career development, and a variety of benefits.

Accreditation from the Association of MBAs represents the highest standard of achievement in postgraduate business education. Its rigorous assessment criteria ensure that only the highest-calibre programmes which demonstrate the best standards in teaching, curriculum, and student interaction achieve Association of MBAs accreditation.

Lund University is one of Scandinavia’s oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher education. LUSEM was established in 1961 as the Faculty of Economics at Lund University. It became a stand-alone, dedicated school in 1996 while also remaining a Faculty of the University. LUSEM has since become one of the leading business schools in Scandinavia, with a reputation for research and strong ties to industry.

During the AMBA accreditation process, the panel members, representing senior management at global business schools, commended the school’s excellent links with its corporate partners, who were seen to be deeply involved with the school. The employers also spoke of how easy it is to liaise and engage with the school.

The panel also mentioned the school’s integration of sustainability across its programmes which they said represented best practice.

Finally, the panel said that the list of explicit transferable skills gained by the students from the course enhanced the impact and distinctiveness of the programmes and this had a marked influence on the employability of students.

Professor Joakim Gullstrand, Dean of LUSEM, commented on the AMBA reaccreditation:

“The reaccreditation reinforces the high quality and global competitiveness of LUSEM's education in general and the two programmes accredited in particular. It signals to the international community that our programmes meet the most rigorous standards, ensuring that our students receive top-tier education. This recognition, therefore, enhances our students' employability and opens doors to global opportunities, giving them a significant edge in their future careers.”

AMBA accreditation is international in scope and reach, and AMBA works under the belief that accredited programmes should be of the highest standard and consider changing trends and innovation in postgraduate management education. Its accreditation process reflects this commitment to fostering innovation and demanding business schools to perform at the highest level continually.

Andrew Main Wilson, AMBA & BGA CEO, said: “I am delighted that the School of Economics and Management at Lund University has been reaccredited. I am very impressed reading the panel’s commendations of the school – the school's excellent corporate connections were particularly impressive.”
