The Faculty of Economics & Business of the University of Amsterdam achieves AMBA re-accreditation confirming itself in the top 2% of business schools
The Faculty of Economics & Business (EB) of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) has officially received re-accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the world’s leading authorities in postgraduate business education, demonstrating its continuing commitment to excellence in management education.
Upon receiving AMBA accreditation, all current MBA students and recent MBA alumni of the UvA EB are invited to join AMBA’s global member community of more than 60,000 students and alumni in over 150 countries on a free basis, for networking, thought leadership, career development, and a variety of benefits.
Accreditation from the Association of MBAs represents the highest standard of achievement in postgraduate business education. Its rigorous assessment criteria ensure that only the highest-caliber programmes which demonstrate the best standards in teaching, curriculum, and student interaction, achieve Association of MBAs accreditation.
The UvA EB is a prestigious institution located on the Roeterseiland Campus, with a history spanning over 100 years. It offers comprehensive education and research programmes through its two schools: the Amsterdam Business School and the Amsterdam School of Economics.
During the AMBA accreditation process, the panel members, representing senior management, praised the school for its significant advancements in digital technology and learning. These improvements have led to a more flexible offering for their part-time general MBA programme. The panel also noted that the school had made a clear commitment to societal impact and was seen to be strategically and significantly investing in this area. Finally, the teaching and learning facilities at the school were seen to be excellent.
Roel Beetsma, Dean of UvA EB writes “I am grateful to the peer review team and my own team for all the hard work and the in-depth discussions we had in relation to the reaccreditation process. I am incredibly proud of this new achievement, and see it as an important confirmation that we are on the right way towards making impactful and technologically innovative contributions to business education and society more broadly. Our reaccreditation will encourage us to further step up our efforts to this end."
AMBA accreditation is international in scope and reach, and AMBA works under the belief that accredited programmes should be of the highest standard and consider changing trends and innovation in postgraduate management education. Its accreditation process reflects this commitment to fostering innovation and demanding business schools to perform at the highest level continually.
Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of the Association of MBAs and Business Graduates Association (BGA), said: “I would like to congratulate everyone at the University of Amsterdam Faculty of Economics & Business for their work towards this accreditation. This school is clearly investing to be one of the best schools globally – with its investments in technology, as well as its societal impact. I look forward to continuing to work closely with this school in the future.”
