Thammasat Business School (TBS), Thammasat University has officially received re-accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the world’s leading authorities in post-graduate business education, demonstrating its continuing commitment to excellence in management education.
Upon receiving AMBA accreditation, all current MBA students and recent MBA alumni of TBS are invited to join AMBA’s global member community of more than 60,000 students and alumni across over 150 countries, free of charge, for networking, thought leadership, career development, and a variety of benefits.
Located in Bangkok, Thailand, TBS offers a comprehensive range of programmes, from bachelor’s to doctoral degrees, designed to support the country’s development through diverse fields of study.
Accreditation from the Association of MBAs represents the highest standard of achievement in post-graduate business education. Its rigorous assessment criteria ensure that only the highest-calibre programmes which demonstrate the best standards in teaching, curriculum, and student interaction achieve Association of MBAs accreditation.
During the accreditation process conducted by AMBA, members of the accreditation panel, representing senior management from globally accredited business schools, commended the school leadership and staff for their clear dedication to both the academic and personal well-being of its students.
The panel also highlighted the school’s recent shift in strategic focus, describing it as a bold move that reflects a realistic and promising approach to achieving impactful success.
Additionally, the panel noted that TBS programmes are highly regarded by students, who see them as offering strong value for money.
Somchai Supattarakul, TBS Dean, said: “TBS is honoured to be the only business school in Thailand awarded a prestigious AMBA re-accreditation. This recognition not only strengthens our global standing but also reinforces our commitment to innovation and excellence. AMBA’s recommendations will guide our continuous improvement, setting us apart as a leader in ASEAN business education and enhancing opportunities for our students and alumni.”
AMBA accreditation is international in scope and reach, and AMBA works under the belief that accredited programmes should be of the highest standard and consider changing trends and innovation in post-graduate management education. Its accreditation process reflects this commitment to fostering innovation, and demanding business schools to perform at the highest level continually.
Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of the Association of MBAs and Business Graduates Association (BGA) said: “Congratulations to Thammasat Business School, Thammasat University for receiving this re-accreditation. AMBA only accredits the top 2% of business schools worldwide and it is fitting that TBS is within the network. I appreciate the school’s commitment to its vision and strategy for impact and look forward to working with them in the future.”

About Thammasat Business School, Thammasat University
Founded in 1938 as the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, later renamed Thammasat Business School (TBS) at Thammasat University, the school was established to develop a new generation of Thai leaders to drive the country’s business growth. Today, TBS continues to stay relevant to the evolving business landscape with innovative programmes and a broad spectrum of offerings, earning a strong reputation for excellence in accounting and business education.
In 1972, TBS introduced Thailand’s first part-time MBA programme to provide greater access for working professionals. Over the past 50 years, more than 25,000 students have graduated from this programme. In 2017, the Master of Business Administration in Global Business Management (International Programme), or GEMBA, was added, offering the most internationalized environment available at a Thai tertiary institution. TBS achieved triple accreditation from EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA in 2018, making it the first business school in Thailand to reach this milestone and distinguishing it as a leading institution in ASEAN.
The mission under Dean Somchai Supattarakul—"to equip future leaders with cutting-edge business insights and technologies for sustainable and effective management in dynamic environments across Thailand, ASEAN, and beyond"—reflects TBS’s progressive legacy and future goals in ASEAN. The vision, "to cultivate future leaders who sustainably shape ASEAN businesses," resonates with local market dynamics and the broader economic and cultural context, enabling TBS to set achievable internationalization goals while addressing regional needs and opportunities.
Sustainable management is also a priority at TBS, which became the first signatory of the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) in Thailand, ensuring its standards align with global norms for sustainability and social responsibility.
Looking ahead, TBS remains committed to expanding its global network, fostering international engagement, and developing the next generation of leaders to navigate the dynamic ASEAN and global business landscape.
