Peking University HSBC Business School in Shenzhen achieves AMBA accreditation and joins a network of world-leading business education providers

Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) in Shenzhen, China has officially received accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the world’s leading authorities on post-graduate business education.

On receiving AMBA accreditation, all current MBA students and recent MBA graduates of PHBS are invited to join AMBA’s global member community of 43,000 students and alumni in more than 150 countries, which brings networking, thought leadership and career development opportunities, and a variety of additional perks and benefits.

AMBA’s accreditation panel commended the School on its impressive pace of development for a relatively young institution and the quality of achievement since its foundation in 2004; the energy and commitment of the School’s Dean and senior leadership team and its entrepreneurial spirit and culture; the internationalisation actions of the School, including recruiting of overseas-qualified faculty and the acquisition of a UK campus; the quality of its facilities, both in Shenzhen and Oxford (UK); and its rigorous approach to assessment.

The panel was also impressed with the School’s embeddedness in the local Shenzhen economy and its strong connections with the corporate world.

AMBA accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement in post-graduate business education and is earned only by the best post-graduate management programmes. AMBA accredits Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Business Management (MBM) and Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) courses available at only the top 2% of the world’s Business Schools.

AMBA’s rigorous assessment criteria ensure that only the highest-calibre programmes which demonstrate the best standards in teaching, curricula, and student interaction achieve AMBA accreditation. AMBA accreditation is international in scope and reach, and the organisation works with senior academics at top educational institutions around the world to continuously update accreditation criteria and maintain one unique, in-depth and detailed approach. AMBA believes accredited programmes should be of the highest standard and reflect changing trends and innovation in post-graduate management education and, as such, the accreditation process reflects this commitment to fostering innovation and challenges Business Schools to continuously perform at the highest level.

Wen Hai, Dean of PHBS, said: ‘Being granted AMBA accreditation is an international recognition to our endeavour of business education and our MBA and EMBA programmes in particular. It is also a milestone for Peking University HSBC Business School as we are pursuing our goal to become an international Business School. This achievement recognises the efforts of all stakeholders, including our faculty, staff, students, alumni, corporate partners, and university administrators. We will continue to build up a top international Business School and take this accreditation as the beginning of an ongoing, continuous improvement process for our executive training programmes.’

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of AMBA & the Business Graduates Association (BGA), added: ‘We look forward to working closely with colleagues at PHBS – and its MBA students and graduates – to ensure that outstanding post-graduate management education continues to be the top priority for employers, governments, and ambitious executives who are destined to become the global business leaders of the future.

‘With its accreditation, PHBS joins a group of the world’s leading Business Schools as AMBA continues to grow across Asia and Oceania, building a network of the highest-quality Business Schools across the region.
