Jan Jasiński, a graduate from the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, has won the coveted BGA Student of the Year Award 2025.
The AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards 2025 were held on January 24, 2025 at the exceptional Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington, London. The Awards brought together leading lights from the global business education community to celebrate excellence and commend achievement among business schools, MBA students and graduates, suppliers and employers. The ceremony was attended by more than 200 business school leaders, as well as category finalists, judges and members of the media.
The BGA Student of the Year Award recognises students who have shown exceptional career potential and who BGA believes can act as ambassadors for the global business school community.
This award doesn’t just recognise ‘straight-A’ students but also focuses on leadership potential and career progression for students of any business education degree programme. Shortlisted students therefore represent a wide range of different personal and professional backgrounds.
Jan Jasinski is an incredible, values-driven, multi-achieving student across a variety of disciplines with an aptitude for maximising every opportunity. He exemplifies a student who utilises his business education for social good and creates impact.
Passionate about personal, professional growth and inclusion, he has spearheaded his own drive to mentor and coach 40 undergraduates to realise and reach their potential.
His characteristic individual motivation saw him co-author an academic paper alongside the University’s Assistant Vice-Principal and published by Cambridge University Press, and win a sustainability competition to work alongside a global engineering, management and development consultancy to improve Glasgow’s cityscape.
Jan Jasiński said of his win, “I was greatly honoured to receive this award from AMBA-BGA, particularly as it recognises my work on the Adam Smith Tercentenary Project. In accepting the award, I advocated for the value of involving philosophy and ethics in a business education, to create better, well-rounded leaders ready to take on the enormous challenges our society will face in the years to come.”
Head of the University of Glasgow Adam Smith Business School, Professor Eleanor Shaw said: “Jan is an exemplar of an engaged, enlightened and entrepreneurial student who maximised his opportunities during his time at the Adam Smith Business School. He has a genuine passion and commitment to ethical and responsible management and utilises his business education for social good to create impact. We are incredibly proud of his achievement winning BGA Student of the Year Award.”
Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of the Association of MBAs and Business Graduates Association (AMBA & BGA) said: “On behalf of the AMBA and BGA team, I would like to congratulate the finalists and winners of this year’s Excellence Awards.
“This year, the competition was stronger than ever – with the highest number of entries ever. The entries who have made the final shortlist in each category should feel proud of their achievements.
“Additionally, the students and graduates who have been shortlisted as finalists today have all used their qualifications to achieve a spectrum of impressive results, in terms of the positive impact they have made to business, education and society as a whole.
