Today it is composed of eight faculties as follows: Arts and Humanities; Economics; Law; Medicine; Pharmacy; Psychology and Education Sciences; Science and Technology; and Sport Sciences and Physical Education.
The Faculty of Economics was founded in 1972 and currently delivers four undergraduate programmes (Economics, Management, International Relations and Sociology) as well as a further twelve Master’s and fourteen Doctoral level programmes.
During the accreditation process conducted by AMBA, members of the accreditation panel representing senior management from global business schools, commended the faculty for being close to the community in which they serve. They noted that employers were particularly engaged with the school and that they were engaged with a network of over 140 partner companies.
The panel also mentioned the strong historical brand and reputation of the University and the attractive city centre location of the physical campus, with UNESCO world heritage status.
Finally, the panel was impressed with the faculty’s future plans, including reinvigorating their physical space for teaching and research, as well as the introduction of the MBA advisory board.
