Escuela de Administración at Universidad EAFIT has received AMBA & BGA accreditation – confirming it as world-class

Escuela de Administración at Universidad EAFIT has officially received joint accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the Business Graduates Association (BGA), two of the world’s leading authorities on business education. The accreditation was awarded after a thorough evaluation process, which involved a panel of senior business school leaders from around the world.

Located in Medellín, Colombia, the Escuela de Administración is the pioneer school of Universidad EAFIT and remains the largest academic unit at the university. It offers four undergraduate programmes, 14 master’s programmes, and one doctoral programme.

During the accreditation process, members of the AMBA & BGA accreditation panel commended the school for providing an exceptional student experience. They highlighted the campus’s facilities and services, which are carefully designed to meet learners' needs. The panel also noted the school’s innovative integration of corporate engagement, societal impact, and its “Park University” concept, which collectively create a vibrant and engaging learning environment.

The panel was particularly impressed by the school’s creation of an ecosystem and its triple engagement approach, encompassing the corporate sector, public sector, and entrepreneurs. This multifaceted approach strengthens the school’s impact and outreach, enhances its relevance and reputation, and broadens opportunities for collaboration and growth.

The leadership and dedication of senior staff were also recognised as noteworthy. The panel praised the staff’s commitment to the institution’s mission and values, highlighting the notable representation of female leadership—a standout achievement for the region.

Upon receiving the AMBA accreditation, all current and recent graduates of the school’s MBA portfolio are invited to join AMBA’s global membership network, which comprises approximately 60,000 students and alumni from over 150 countries.

Meanwhile, all undergraduates and alumni from any of the business school’s programmes are invited to join BGA’s individual membership network. Through both these organisations, students and graduates can strengthen a community that acts as a force for good in management thought and practice, through exclusive events and business content.

AMBA & BGA accreditation is international in scope and reach, and the organisation works with senior academics at top educational institutions around the world to continuously update accreditation criteria and maintain a unique, in-depth, and detailed approach.

AMBA & BGA believe accredited schools should be of the highest standard and reflect changing trends and innovation in postgraduate management education. As such, the accreditation process reflects this commitment to fostering innovation and challenges business schools to continuously perform at the highest level.

Dean of Escuela de Administración at Universidad EAFIT, Cristina Velez-Valencia, said, “Our recent re-accreditation by AMBA and BGA reaffirms our unwavering commitment to excellence in business education. This achievement reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students, who continuously innovate, lead, and create meaningful impact in our community.

“We are grateful and honored for the commendations from the international panel, which highlighted our commitment with excellence by creating a dynamic ecosystem for learning. Our ‘Park University’ concept and strong leadership fosters a collaborative environment, while our focus on sustainability, societal impact, and inclusivity ensures that we remain relevant and forward-thinking in today’s global context.”

“As we celebrate this milestone, we remain focused on fostering a dynamic learning environment that prepares ethical, critical-thinking leaders ready to face the challenges of a rapidly evolving world. Together, we will continue shaping the future of business education, fostering leaders who drive positive change with purpose, integrity, inclusivity, and excellence.”

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of AMBA & BGA, said: “Accreditation reflects a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. Universidad EAFIT’s Escuela de Administración has demonstrated its ability to deliver a world-class business education, making a significant impact on its students, its community, and the global business landscape.”
